Ivan's career began as a Strength and Conditioning Coach and Assistant Coach with the youth teams in Cesena, his hometown. He then continued alongside Head Coach Marcello Abbondanza at "Millenium Brescia" in the third National League (B1), where they achieved their first victory in a National category championship together.
His first experience in the top division came in 2002 with "Scavolini Pesaro", where over the course of three seasons, he won a CEV Cup and led the team to the regular season title in the National firs League (A1). This was followed by two seasons with "Monteschiavo Jesi", then "Icot Forlì" and "MC Carnaghi Villa Cortese", where he secured three National Cups, reached three championship finals and played in a historic European Champions League Final Four.
After ten seasons in Italy's top league, it was time for him to move abroad, thanks to an offer from "Rabita Baku" (Azerbaijan), one of the most competitive teams in Europe at that time. Here he won the National Championship and Cup, and for the first time in Azerbaijani club's history earned a silver medal in the European Champions League. After just one year he transferred to "Fenerbahce Istanbul", where over four seasons he won two National Cups, two Nationals Championships, a National SuperCup, a Cev Cup and another notable result (third place) in the European Champions League.
In 2017 he returned in Italy to join "Pomì Casalmaggiore", this time as a strength conditioning coach and Assistant Coach to Marco Gaspari. He remained in Casalmaggiore for three years before moving to "Volero Le Cannet" in France with head coach Lorenzo Micelli. Here he achieved a double victory, winning both the National Cup and Championship in the 2021-22 season. After spending just one season back in Turkey in "Turkish Airlines" staff, he is currently the Head of Strength and Conditioning and Performance at "Incheon Heungkuk Life Pink Spiders", a team competing in South Korea's 1st League.
In parallelwith his commitments to various clubs in National Championships, he also worked for the Italian Senior Woman's National Team for three years (2004-07), and later for the Bulgarian National Team (2013-14). In 2021-22 he collaborated with the Danish Senior Men's National Team with whom he achieved the first European Silver League victory for the red and white team and qualification for the following year's European Championship.
