Origin: inferior Pubic Ramus and body of Pubis (17)

Insertion: medial surface of proximal tibia (18)

Actions: hip Adduction, Flexion and Internal Rotation of the knee 

Helping Synergist Muscles:

  • together with Adductor Longus (3), Adductor Brevis and Adductor Major joins the hip Adduction
  • together with Hamstrings, Sartorius and Popliteus joins the knee Flexion
  • together with Semimembranosus, Semitendinosus, Popliteus and Sartorius acts to Rotate the knee                          

Notes: at the level of proximal part of the tibia, Gracilis tendon joins the "Pes Anserinus" together with Semitendinosus and Srtorius tendons
