The 2DB Farmer Walk Raises is a loaded locomotion exercise that combines the benefits of calf training with the demands of a farmer carry. By maintaining an elevated heel position throughout the walk, the plantar flexors of the ankle are challenged continuously, promoting strength endurance, ankle stability and force production through the foot-ankle complex. Loaded toe-walking variations are commonly used to strengthen the calves while improving balance and lower-limb control. In addition to challenging the gastrocnemius and soleus, the exercise requires substantial activation of the core, grip and hip stabilizers to maintain posture and balance while moving under load. For this reason, it is often incorporated into athletic development programs focused on running, sprinting, change of direction performance and lower-limb stiffness.
